Mr. Shiaam Thava MBBS MRCOG is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Princess Royal University Hospital. After completing the final years of his training at the same hospital, he was appointed to a substantive consultant position.
Mr. Thava is friendly, professional, and approachable, and values building strong relationships with his patients. He graduated from Barts and The London Medical School in 2007 and completed his specialist training in the Kent and South London region. His clinical interests include perinatal mortality, benign gynaecology, colposcopy, and complex tertiary menopause care.
Mr Thava is listed as a specialist by the British Menopause Society (BMS), and since completing his advanced training modules, has gone onto become a BMS trainer for those seeking training in complex menopause care.
With specialist interests in menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency, benign gynaecology, and colposcopy, Mr. Thava is a member of the British Menopause Society, the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy. He holds a postgraduate certificate in medical education and serves as the block lead for Human Development for second-year medical students. Since late 2023, he has also taken on the role of College Tutor, overseeing the training, education, recruitment, and wellbeing of the department’s junior doctors.
Please note that we are unable to see patients under the age of 18, except for MRI scans, which have a minimum age of 8.
