By choosing private medical care, you can see a private doctor at a time and place that suits you. Our Canary Wharf station is within walking distance of Canary Wharf, West India Quay and Westferry underground stations making it convenient to get to from most places in London. Our Orpington clinic is only a mile from St Mary Cray station which is an easy 30-minute ride from central London.

How Much Does A Private GP Cost?

The cost of seeing a private GP can be much more affordable than you might think. We offer time slots ranging from 15 minutes, for a basic check-up, to 60 minutes for an in-depth conversation about your healthcare needs.

Visit our Canary Wharf GP and Orpington GP Clinic pages for a detailed price list.

Do I Need To Be Referred To A Private GP?

No, just like visiting an NHS GP you can make your own appointment and don’t need to be referred by another healthcare provider.

You can book online using the ‘book appointment’ button or phone our clinics directly.

Is it worth seeing a private GP?

One of the biggest perks of choosing medical healthcare is you can receive a more efficient form of healthcare. At LycaHealth, we’re often able to offer same-day doctor appointments and because you can book online, you can choose an appointment that works with your schedule.

We can also provide you with test results and next steps much more quickly, often within 24 hours.

How do I pay for a private GP?

There are a number of ways you can pay for a private GP appointment.

Private healthcare can be a perk that is provided by your employer, through private insurance or corporate health and wellbeing services. You can also choose to take out your own private healthcare insurance which can help cover the costs.

Another option is to self-fund, which means paying directly for your GP appointment yourself. You can find pricing for each clinic on our Canary Wharf GP and Orpington GP clinic pages.

Can I have an online GP appointment?

As well as face-to-face GP appointments, we do offer remote consultations at both our Canary Wharf and Orpington clinic.

We offer this for our standard 15 minute GP consultations, and this can make it far easier to fit an appointment into your day. Remote appointments cost slightly less than a face-to-face appointment but you’ll still receive the same level of professionalism and care.

Some appointments will need to be face-to-face, such as longer appointments or if your GP needs to take your blood pressure or perform blood tests. If you’re not sure if you need to visit face-to-face, you can contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Our private GP service can help you prepare for the winter flu season

Due to lockdowns, many of us have not spent much time with people outside of our households. This means as a society, we have weakened our overall herd immunity for the flu virus and many of us will be more at risk of catching the flu.

It’s estimated over 35,000,000 are going to be offered a free flu vaccination. This is going to be the biggest flu campaign ever as more and more of us will be encouraged to protect ourselves, and our loved ones, this flu season.

By choosing to get a vaccination from a private GP, you can significantly lessen how long you need to wait for the flu jab. Getting your flu jab as soon as possible means you lessen your chance of catching the flu and passing it on to family, coworkers and friends.

You’re especially encouraged to get the jab if you’re

  • Over 65
  • Pregnant, or trying to get pregnant
  • Work with large groups, especially vulnerable groups such as children or the elderly
  • Commute on busy routes, such as the London underground
