In light of this, we are now offering an at-home Covid-19 test; the only test on the market to identify the 2019-nCoV strain and differentiate between other variants with the same symptoms.

Get Your COVID-19 Testing Kit

Testing kits are sent to you by post and are simple to use. You simply take a swab from your nose and back of the throat following the instructions provided. You send your swabs back to our laboratory for analysis, and we will provide you with your results in 4-5 working days.

The three most common symptoms associated with coronavirus are:

  • Fever above 37.8 degrees
  • A new continuous cough (which is dry, rather than chesty)
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste9

Other symptoms of COVID-19 may include tiredness, headaches and other bodily aches and pains. Less common symptoms may also include a runny nose, sore throat, and diarrhoea.

Some people may be asymptomatic, meaning that they display no symptoms, however, this doesn’t mean they cannot pass the virus onto others. Using our COVID-19 test will enable you to check whether or not you have COVID-19, or are suffering from a different illness.

The first reported cases were in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 which is why it is sometimes referred to as the ‘Wuhan virus’.

The test is simple and quick to do, and you will receive everything you need to carry out the test within the kit; including step by step instructions. The test will involve you taking a nasal and throat swab, as well as scraping inside the nose and at the back of the throat.

Results from the laboratory will be available between 4 and 5 working days, however it is important to note that whilst we will do everything we can to get your test results as soon as possible, exact turnaround times cannot be guaranteed.

You will receive an email with your results once they are available and advice from one of our doctors if your test is positive.

Unfortunately not. All test kits will be sent to the patient’s home address, this is to protect the patients and our employees at LycaHealth.

If your test comes back as positive, you and your household must self isolate. You must self isolate for at least 7 days from when your symptoms started. For those who you live with, and do not have any symptoms, they must self isolate for 14 days.

Yes, we now offer the COVID-19 Coronavirus antibody test. If you’re not showing symptoms now, but think you may have had coronavirus, this test can identify whether or not you’ve been previously been infected by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).

Yes, over 65s can order our at home COVID-19 testing kit.

No, you should still continue to social distance and act in line with the government guidelines. A negative result simply means you do not currently have COVID-19, it doesn’t mean that you can’t contract it in the future, nor does it mean you have immunity. You may decide to take a COVID-19 Coronavirus antibody test, if you feel you may have had coronavirus, or you could take the Coronavirus test again if you develop new symptoms.

It is thought that COVID-19 Coronavirus is transmitted through respiratory droplets (from someone who is infected), through direct contact with an infected person, or by contact with objects or surfaces that are contaminated with the virus. You can become infected when these droplets are transferred to your eyes, nose or mouth.
