Miss Safina Ali

Consultant ENT / Head & Neck Surgeon

Miss Safina Ali is a Consultant ENT, Head and Neck Surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of adult ear, nose and throat conditions. She graduated from the University of Glasgow and completed her specialist ENT training in Edinburgh and Aberdeen as part of the East of Scotland Higher Surgical Training Scheme. During her training, she undertook a prestigious Research Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Miss Ali went on to complete two Royal College of Surgeons of England post-CCT Clinical Fellowships in Advanced Head and Neck Cancer Surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital in London. She has been a Consultant ENT and Head and Neck Surgeon at The Royal London Hospital and University College London Hospitals since 2016, where she is a core member of the head and neck cancer multidisciplinary team.

Alongside her specialist head and neck cancer practice, Miss Ali maintains a broad general ENT practice, caring for adults with a wide range of common and complex ENT problems. Her areas of expertise include sore throats, persistent cough, snoring, ear symptoms, hearing and balance concerns, nasal blockage, sinus infections and other inflammatory or infective conditions affecting the ear, nose and throat.

Miss Ali has particular sub-specialist expertise in the assessment and management of head and neck lumps, thyroid conditions, salivary gland disorders and cancers of the head and neck. She is experienced in managing both benign and malignant conditions and is committed to providing clear, patient-centred care from initial assessment through to investigation, diagnosis and treatment planning.

She is well published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented her work at major national and international meetings. Her research interests include clinical outcomes and quality-of-life improvement for patients with head and neck cancer. Miss Ali is also actively involved in teaching and surgical training, and is passionate about supporting the next generation of surgeons.

Miss Ali is a graduate of the University of Glasgow. She trained as an ENT surgeon on the East of Scotland Higher Surgical Training Scheme during which she took time off to take a prestigious Research Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York. She has spoken at many international meetings and is well published in peer review journals.

Her NHS practice is based at The Royal London and University College London Hospitals. Miss Ali is a general ENT surgeon specializing in all aspects of adult ENT care including the management of the sore throat, cough, snoring, ear problems and sinus infections. She has further sub-specialty training in Head and Neck surgery with two Clinical Fellowships from Guys and St Thomas’ and Charing Cross Hospitals, London. Therefore she manages not only cancers of the thyroid, and salivary glands but any head and neck lumps.
