Mr Al Chalabi is a highly experienced Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist focus in colorectal and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Baghdad in 1999, after which he relocated to Dublin, Ireland to complete his surgical training. He later pursued advanced specialist training in colorectal surgery at both St James’s Hospital in Dublin and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London.

He holds particular expertise in treating conditions of the colon and rectum, including colorectal cancer and a broad range of abdominal procedures. Mr Al Chalabi is also highly skilled in both open and laparoscopic hernia repair.

His academic interests include enhanced recovery programmes, aiming to support faster post-surgical rehabilitation and reduce hospital stays. He holds a Master of Surgery (MCh) degree, which focused on research in minimally invasive surgical techniques, especially hernia repair. Alongside his clinical and academic roles, Mr Al Chalabi is a recognised trainer in endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery, and serves as faculty on laparoscopic surgery courses at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
