Some people who regularly take part in sports can experience hip problems or pain in the groin area. Hip and groin pain after running, especially, can occur due to a number of reasons, including inflammation, groin strain, alignment issues and arthritis, and should be checked as soon as possible. Sore hips or issues with the hip joint for a runner can cause severe discomfort and pain, making it almost impossible in some cases to continue with sports.

Hip and groin pain are often connected. We aim to find the cause and alleviate pain swiftly and thoroughly.

Causes of hip pain and groin pain include:

  • Arthritis
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Hip fracture
  • Bursitis (swelling of the fluid-filled sac over your hip joint)
  • Inflamed ligament
  • Hernia

Your initial consultation will be with one of our physiotherapists who will assess and diagnose your injury, using diagnostic imaging if needed. You will then be referred on to the appropriate specialist, if necessary, for treatment and a bespoke rehabilitation plan.
