Back pain clinic

The majority of people will suffer with back pain at some point in their lives. If your back is causing you issues, LycaHealth’s back pain clinic at Canary Wharf, East London can help you recover.

Back pain

Back pain is a very common issue which can often be alleviated or treated with exercise, massage or medication provided at a spinal clinic. Here at LycaHealth you will be seen by one of our highly professional and experienced physiotherapists, who will check your medical history and conduct comprehensive assessments (including diagnostic imaging if needed) in order to find the cause of your issue. You will then be referred to the appropriate specialist, if necessary, who will issue treatment and a thorough recovery plan in order to provide back pain relief and get you back to 100%.

Receive an accurate diagnosis and advice to treat your back problems and feel like yourself again with our comprehensive back pain clinic services.

Backache and back pain have many different causes, including:

  • Sciatica
  • Slipped disc or herniated disc
  • Arthritis
  • Trapped nerve

Lower back pain is common for those with poor posture, who lift heavy objects, take part in sports or are overweight. It will usually disappear over a short period of time with the correct gentle exercises or stretches, but it is advisable to consult a physiotherapist for lower back pain treatment if the pain doesn’t go away or gets worse. Arthritis pain or joint pain can manifest in the lower back, as well as stiffness, if spinal osteoarthritis is present.

Neck pain

If you have neck pain, whether it’s as seemingly innocent as a stiff neck, or more severe chronic pain, it is important to seek help or advice from a physiotherapist. Neck pain can arise from a vast range of different issues, and should not be left undiagnosed in case it is a byproduct of a more serious health problem.

We aim to get to the root of your neck pain with our physiotherapy-led service. You’ll be in great hands with our highly skilled physiotherapists.

Diagnosis of neck pain will be handled by one of our specialist physiotherapists. Clinical findings will then be forwarded as needed to a specialist who will issue a bespoke treatment plan to ensure full recovery before discharge.

If you are experiencing any of the following neck pain symptoms, book an appointment with one of our consultants as soon as possible:

  • Muscle spasm in neck. Neck spasms can be a result of overuse, emotional stress, poor posture, dehydration or exercise, and in worse cases whiplash, meningitis, spinal stenosis, torticollis or inflammatory conditions.
  • Pain, tingling, numbness or weakness in your limbs or bottom. This could be due to a trapped nerve, or sciatica, where specifically the sciatic nerve becomes trapped.
  • Neck pain and headache. Headaches can arise in connection with neck pain due to muscle strain, stress, injury, arthritis, or meningitis if associated with a fever.

Neck pain treatment can often occur without surgery. For example, treatment for trapped nerve may involve an exercise programme recommended by your physio, use of heat pads, acupuncture or painkillers if pain is severe. Patients with neck pain generally go on to live pain-free lives after treatment.
