Prema Subaskaran is a prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist, with a particular focus on helping people from the developing world access the medical care that they need. She founded LycaHealth in 2015, as Chairperson, oversees the operational and strategic development of the business, including expansion into new markets and the overall running of the centres. This includes leading on the opening of LycaHealth’s Canary Wharf clinic in 2015 and the subsequent opening of two further centres across the world, including that of Westminster Healthcare in Channai, which opened in 2016 and was endorsed by the British Prime Minister, Theresa May. Prema is also the co-founder of the Gnanam Foundation, set up in 2010 to provide opportunities and support to the most vulnerable people and communities all over the world, particularly India, Sri Lanka and parts of Africa. She also spearheads Lyca Group’s CSR initiatives, including, most recently, the funding of pivotal work by Alzheimer’s Research UK focused on educating and empowering Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities about the disease, its identification and prevention. Prema has a Masters in Biomedical science. She is the Winner of the Asian Voice Political and Public Life Business Person of the Year Award 2018 at the House of Commons and Global Officials of Dignity Awards (G.O.D) Distinguished Woman of the Year 2017 at UN for humanitarian services.
