The Rapid Cardiac Assessment Service offers patients with symptoms a triage with a Cardiac Nurse, followed by a tailored set of heart tests to obtain a detailed insight into your cardiovascular health.

KIMS Hospital, Kent’s largest independent hospital, is operating a service at LycaHealth Orpington which provides fast access to cardiac testing for patients who are experiencing symptoms relating to their heart. Alternatively, patients without symptoms can opt for a routine heart check up.
A fixed set of tests for those not experiencing cardiac symptoms to examine their heart function. Our Healthy Heart Assessment includes an ECG, echocardiogram, cholesterol test, thyroid test, blood test, and more.
Your results will be processed in 7 working days and reviewed by a Consultant Cardiologist. Our team will notify you of your results and a copy sent to your GP.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as mild chest pain, palpitations or breathlessness, we can offer you a triage with a Cardiac Nurse, followed by a tailored set of heart tests to obtain a detailed insight into your cardiovascular health.
Once these tests have been completed, you will have a face-to-face or telephone appointment with a Consultant Cardiologist to discuss your symptoms and results.

Depending on your results, we may recommend some further investigations. Any further tests, scans, treatments or appointments with a Consultant Cardiologist are not included and will incur additional costs. These will be discussed with you and your consent will need to be given before any bookings or appointments are made.
If you have no symptoms but want a routine health check on your heart, you can access the healthy heart assessment.
Yes, the Cardiologist can write to your GP and request that further care will be needed within the NHS for the procedure you require.
Yes, on completion of your screening, the triage team will write to your GP, and yourself, with a copy of your results and clinic letter which will outline future care management.
Yes, all Cardiologists will have ongoing costs of tests and procedures so this can be discussed during your appointment.
You can be referred to KIMS Hospital in Maidstone, which is Kent’s largest independent hospital and the only interventional Cardiology facility in the south east.
At KIMS Hospital, Cardiologists can implant pacemakers, perform ablations, do angiograms and insert coronary stents. If you need open heart surgery such as a bypass operation, or valve replacement we can refer you to other centers.
