Dr Khamba trained at University College London Medical School and completed Higher Specialist Training in Renal Medicine and General Medicine at University of Leicester Hospitals. Clinical expertise and areas of interest include Hypertension, Proteinuria, Chronic Kidney Disease and Electrolyte disturbances. Dr Khamba has experience in the management of glomerular disease covering both initial management and long term immunosuppression strategies. Dr Khamba provides expertise in renal replacement therapy – encompassing both haemodialysis (acute and long term) and renal transplantation management. In addition, Dr Khamba provides general medical expertise covering acute illness and long term conditions.
Dr Khamba has completed a NIHR Research Fellowship looking at the causes of endothelial dysfunction in patients with early stages of chronic kidney disease and hypertension.
Dr Khamba also has spent time working on a national level with the Health and Social Care Information Centre and the Royal College of Physicians Informatics Unit, developing national standards for transferring clinical information across information systems. This work has been presented at National Conferences covering primary care and Healthcare Technology Conventions.
Dr Khamba is a Consultant Physician at Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where he provides inpatient care to patients under Acute Medicine, General and Renal Medicine. He also provides general medical and renal outpatient services.
