Dr Aathavan Loganayagam trained in medicine at Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’ medical schools and graduated in 2000. He then specialised in gastroenterology and general internal medicine, spending two years as a research and endoscopy fellow at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London.

His research focused on pharmacogenetics, inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal malignancy. His research has earned him a number of awards, including the prestigious NHS Innovation London Award. Aathavan is the lead clinician for inflammatory bowel disease at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. He is experienced in all aspects of gastroenterology but has specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), dyspepsia and endoscopy.
