Sebastian Dowson-Bowling is an orthopaedic consultant specialising in all disorders of the hip and knee. Since qualifying in 2000 from Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Medical School, London he has gained wide experience in all areas of orthopaedic surgery, culminating in specialist training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, also spending time learning from the world-renowned hip and knee specialist Paul Pellicci at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. In 2012 he was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St. George’s Hospital, London and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre. He then moved to Barts Health NHS Trust in 2013.
Sebastian is also an expert in medical law and he offers Medicolegal services in both London and Brighton, having graduated from Cardiff University Law School in 2008 with a Masters degree (LLM) in medical law and wrote a thesis on medical negligence and informed consent to treatment. He is actively involved in clinical research and publishing and has completed an MSc degree based on his laboratory research into un-cemented hip resurfacing implants.
He has 14 publications in peer-reviewed journals, has presented his research on a national and international level and is also also lead author/editor of three orthopaedic textbooks. Outside work, Sebastian is passionate about classical music and in 2001 he founded a baroque orchestra in London. A former Cambridge University and GB oarsman, he is also interested in exercise and training.
