Raju Singh Ahluwalia

Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr Ahluwalia is a consultant trauma & foot and ankle surgeon working at King’s College Hospital London. He has completed a comprehensive program of specialist clinical training and two-year full time surgical fellowship program in disorders of the foot & ankle, and lower limb reconstruction and been appointed at Consultant Grade to two major trauma centres in the UK.

He enjoys the challenges of foot surgery and the development of diabetic foot surgery and is currently part of the organising committee of the Multidisciplinary Charcot Meeting, and lectures on diabetic foot surgery. Dr Ahluwalia works within the diabetic foot unit that has already pioneered hind and mid foot surgery and have specific protocol to deliver ulcer control and salvage hind and mid foot deformity.

Dr Ahluwalia has been privileged to work at the Royal National Orthopaedic Centre in Stanmore specialising in complex hind foot and neurological problems, and has undertaken an advanced fellowship at the Oxford Nuffield Centre (NOC) to expand his knowledge of arthroscopic, ankle arthroplasty and MIS hind foot techniques and finally as a Foot Fellow and Limb Reconstruction Fellow on the Wirral, Liverpool and Southampton.

Dr Ahluwalia’s specialist training has enabled him to develop these goals having undertaken over multiple procedures in general and lower limb reconstruction trauma and develop a complete foot and ankle practice. This experience has given him valuable and transferable skills in clinical management and developing specialist services for foot and ankle disorders.

As a consultant his practice encompasses the complexities of diabetic foot medicine and the multi–disciplinary teamwork. He provides a wide range of foot and ankle treatments from the common to the not so common and is part of a tertiary referral service for the area. In the last year he has brought and expanding treatments such as ESWL to practice. His NHS practice is based within the Kings College Hospital NHS Trust – covering South East London and provides both sub-specialists, trauma care and surgical treatments for common foot and ankle problems.

Dr Ahluwalia has a passion to develop foot and ankle services in collaboration between clinical excellence, continued educations in a teaching environment and continue to mentor and train the next generation of surgeons as an educational supervisor. He is confident that his experience and personal qualities will help those who he works with and treats.
