Mr Peter Thompson, Huntarian Professor of Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England, is Consultant Urological Surgeon to the department of Urology, Kings College Hospital London.
He trained at Kings College Hospital. His earlier surgical training was in London and the South East with 18 months in South Africa before returning to Kings and the Institute of Urology to complete his urological training.He was originally jointly appointed to Kings College and Dartford Hospitals becoming full time and Clinical Lead at Kings.
He was also registered a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Bermuda where he has been regularly attending. His clinical interests are all aspects of core urology with particular interest in benign and malignant disease of the prostate, bladder and testes. He has considerable experience in managing prostate cancer as well as treating benign prostatic diseases with green light laser treatment.
He has also shown great commitment to teaching and training having been President of the Urology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and tutor, programme director and regional advisor to the Royal College of Surgeons, England.
Mr Thompson is a frequent guest lecturer giving invited lectures at the Royal Society of Medicine, Universities of Beijing and Peking, the Sri Lankan College of Surgeons, as well as being founder member and convenor in the teaching of open urological surgical techniques at the Royal College of Surgeons.
