Dr John Moran is a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society; he is Accredited by the BABCP as a Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapist. He has worked as a therapist, teacher, trainer and clinical supervisor for over 10 years in a variety of mental health settings including the NHS, The Priory Hospitals Group and in the Charity sector.
His therapeutic approach is Integrative, identifying ‘what works for whom’ through thorough assessment and a rigorous formulation of client difficulty. He is experienced in Cognitive Behavioural approaches, including those which are Mindfulness-based, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Person-Centred and Psychodynamic orientations.
He works in private practice providing psychological services to Adults and Couples. He has several years’ experience of working in NHS Substance Misuse services and also provides services to the Personal and Criminal Injury Sector which includes psychological assessment, Medico-Legal reporting and treatment for PTSD.
He has experience of working with a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety spectrum disorders, impulse control disorders, depression, personality disorders, chronic pain, bereavement and life adjustment issues.
Prior to his training as a psychologist John worked in The City of London as an IT Consultant for over 20 years enabling him to have a unique insight into many stress-related mental health problems commonly associated with working in the Financial Services Sector. He now provides psychological services, including Executive Coaching, to City clients in the Banking, Insurance, Legal and IT sectors.
He is able to offer face-to-face, telephone and Skype sessions and aims to provide a recovery-oriented approach, enabling clients to develop coping skills and build resilience to their mental health difficulties.
John also uses a recovery-oriented approach in his work with Substance Misuse difficulties and has worked extensively with alcohol, opiate, stimulant and cannabis misuse both privately and in the community. In addition, he has worked with sex and gambling addictions.
Dr Moran is a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist, BABCP Accredited Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapist and Associated Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
