Consultant Cardiology



Dr Carl Shakespeare studied medicine at Westminster Medical School at the University of London and graduated in 1984. He then completed specialist training in cardiology at the National Heart Hospital, the Royal London Hospital, St Thomas’ and St George’s. Carl became an accredited specialist in cardiology and internal medicine in 1995. For more than 15 years, he has been the lead consultant cardiologist at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He provides daily care for acute cardiac patients with angina, heart attacks, heart failure, arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythms), and patients requiring pacemakers.

Carl also provides consultant services at the Blackheath, Lister and London Independent Hospitals. He created the Cardiovascular Risk Institute in Woolwich, London, and he remains a director. At the institute, he is involved in research into treatments for high blood pressure and cholesterol.
